The wage system is simple. If you're a wood cutter, miner, or some form of laborer that is. You simply make a thread and meet the minimum posting requirements (2 paragraphs) and voila! You make your wages for that day. Keeps it simple and you get your wage.
For those of you who've chosen craftsman professions, you have a slightly more difficult task to make your wage. Not only do you have to do the minimum posting requirements, but your items can take days to craft. These items also cost money for the resources you've used to make them. So, yours take more time to make, cost some to make, but you can sell them at higher prices to make more money. Don't worry, you also don't have to sell them off to the City-state for a flat rate either. You can hold the items you make to sell them to other characters as well. To put it simply, you post the two paragraphs of creation each day until the item is made and either sell it off to the city-state or other characters for your profit.
Shop keepers, your the same was as craftsman for the most part. However, you can buy the items from craftsman, items from the farmers, and lots of others so you can make your own living. You buy and sell the items for profit. All you do is gather the items with the two paragraphs of selling them to the city-state official or interact with a character for the profit gained.

Example:
You bought a dagger that was worth 400 gold pieces from a craftsman. It's one of the best daggers you've seen in a while. There's jewels and it's made of solid silver! Not to mention the unusual runes and such carved into it that are imbued to keep it from breaking as easy as a normal blade. With the magic alone, you could sell it for 600 or more gold pieces. You decide to set the item price for 800 gold pieces. A few days pass and you've finally sold the dagger to some uppity noble's son for 750 gold pieces. You gain the 150 gold pieces to your own coin pouch for your profit!
